Item Description:Generally ascribed to Paul Aler (later adapted by various others) and based on an earlier work by another "Unus a Societate Jesu", titled: Synonymorum et epithetorum thesaurus (1652), later: Novus synonymorum, epithetorum et phrasium, seu elegantiarum poeticarum, thesaurus (1662). Cf. Neue deut. Biog., also Backer-Sommervogel (whose identification of the earlier Jesuit as one pr̈e Chastillon is disputed by BN).
