| Item Description: | Brief verse text and captions in Latin. Most engravings signed P. (or Pe.) v. Borcht. Leaves 9, 11, 13, 17, and 27 dated 1582; leaves 34, 35, 37-42, 45, and 48 unsigned. Verses possibly from Imagines et figurae Bibliorum / Hendrik Jansen. -- [Antwerp : C. Plantin, 1582?] or Humanae salutis monumenta / B. Arias Montanus. -- Antwerp : Christoph Plantinus, 1571. Engravings have citation to the book, chapter, and verse illustrated. Leaves and some engravings are numbered; engravings for the New Testament are numbered in a separate sequence. Engraving on leaf 34 numbered 43. Two leaves each numbered 90, 91, and 96; engravings on these leaves numbered 30, 31, 32, 33, 35, and 36 respectively. Latin verses on leaves 98-99 in roman type, others in italic. Oblong folio of single sheets without signatures. |
