| Item Description: | Title devised by cataloger. Plates originally produced in 1611 for Nucleus emblematum selectissimorum, quae Itali vulgo impresas vocant by Gabriel Rollenhagen and Crispijn van de Passe [the Elder]. Marian Library copy lacks title page, portrait of Rollenhagen, preface, and other front matter. Original plate numbers marked out and rennumbered by hand. Includes 63 hand-drawn miniature roundels in ink, sometimes colored and captioned, inserted on the blank verso of the first six leaves. Handwritten on leaf 48 [originally plate 61], In Silentio et Spe, engraving of a monk: Frater franciscus Castera Regularis observantio professus anno Domini 1755: die 15 novembris in Conventu Burdigalie.
