Summary: | James A. Ward was born in Philadelphia in 1813 and was educated at the Washington Seminary and Georgetown College. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1832 and was ordained in 1843. Throughout his career, he taught poetry, rhetoric, physics, chemistry, as well as serving as administrator at Frederick, Washington Seminary, Loyola College (Baltimore), and Holy Cross (Worcester, MA). Ward died at Georgetown in 1895. His papers largely consist of devotional material, along with diaries, pedagogical materials, and letters concerning administration of the Washington Seminary. |
