545 0 |a Rita Angelica Scotti was born December 25, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island. She attended Newton College from 1961-1962, Loyola University's Rome Campus from 1963-1964, and finished her degree at Loyola University Chicago from 1964-1965. Scotti worked for the Providence Journal as a gopher and features editor. She also worked at the Newark Star Ledger. Scotti's first novel, "The Kiss of Judas", was published in 1984 and was soon followed by "The Devil's Own" (1985), "The Hammer's Eye" (1988), and "For Love of Sarah" (1995). In 2004 she published the non-fiction book "Sudden Sea", which is an account of the hurricane that struck the Northeastern coast of the United States in 1938. She followed this in 2007 with "Basilica", which is a history of the construction of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Scotti's final book was "Vanished Smile" in 2009, an account of the theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in 1911. R. A. Scotti passed away in 2010.
