He discusses his upbringing, how he was introduced to the Catholic Worker and Dorothy Day, his moral confusion over registering for the draft, time he spent at the Community of the Ark in France and his eventual arrival at St. Joseph's House of Hospitality in New York City. Ellsberg describes working at the house of hospitality before becoming the editor of The Catholic worker. He details some of the difficulties he had in finding his footing as an editor and dealing with writers. He then talks about the antinuclear movement, nonviolent protests and his own protest experiences including being arrested for blocking railroad tracks at the Rocky Flats Plant.
