Item Description: | Signatures: pi² A² B-C⁴, A-B⁴ C², a² b-c⁴, A-B⁴ C². Text printed in double columns. Twenty eight blank pages follow the two manuscripts bound with this title. Bronckart was a bookseller and active as a printer between 1695 and 1720. Head- and tail-pieces, catchwords. The manuscript in Latin is entitled Dissertatio Hubertina and talks about the imminent destruction of the monastery ( Abbey of St. Peter in the Ardennes) which took place in 1797. The dissertatio wants to demonstrate that the monastery holds relics of St. Hubert and that it is not a superstition. The note on the upper right claims that the dissertatio is taken from a work of clarissimo Pickering, volumes 3 and 6. The text refers to a book, published in 1621 by Roberti, Johannes, 1569-1651: Historia S. Huberti, Principis Aquitani, Ultimi Tungrensis & Primi Leodensis Episcopi., which discusses questions concerning the relics. The German manuscript includes prayers for first communion and for faith and hope. |
